Cambridge University Percussion Ensemble

Cambridge University Percussion Ensemble (CUPE) is an exciting new ensemble in the CUMS family, bringing together the finest percussionists in the university to rehearse and perform in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. Rehearsals take place roughly once every two weeks.

CUPE is fortunate enough to perform a wide variety of works, ranging from the minimalism of Reich and Cage to the energy of Bernstein and even the inspiration of our own composers in residence. CUPE is an excellent experience for any student percussionist looking to improve their skills and perform with like-minded musicians. Joining together to perform with other CUMS ensembles, CUPE has enjoyed a wide range of repertoire, having recently performed Eric Whitacre’s Cloudburst and a world premiere of Nature’s Beauty by Young in St Paul’s Church in Covent Garden, and an arrangement of West Side Story with Cambridge University Wind Orchestra.
