About the CUMS Festival Chorus
"The lucky few who managed to acquire tickets for this sold-out concert were treated to an utterly mesmerising display of choral singing... the results were so spectacular that they gave me almost continual goosebumps."
Varsity, 25 January 2008
The CUMS Festival Chorus, which gave its first performance at King's College Chapel in January 2008, is an exciting addition to the Cambridge musical scene. The Festival Chorus brings together Cambridge's world-renowned college choirs to form one of the most exciting and vibrant large-scale choirs in the world. The Festival Chorus comes together once each year to perform a major choral work with CUMS I, the university's flagship symphony orchestra.
This year's Festival Chorus will include the choral scholars of Magdalene, Queens' Sidney Sussex and Trinity Colleges. It will perform Beethoven's Missa Solemnis in King's College Chapel under the baton of Christopher Robinson, former Director of Music at St John's College.
Membership of the Festival Chorus is open to Cambridge choral scholars by invitation only.
