The Cambridge University Symphony Chorus, conducted by Richard Wilberforce, joins forces with the East Anglia Chamber Orchestra and professional soloists to bring you Bach’s masterpiece Christmas Oratorio. Wilberforce is the new Musical Director of the Symphony Chorus, having previously held the position of Chorus Master of the Leeds Philharmonic Chorus. He also teaches choral direction at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris, conducts the Jeune Choeur de Paris and Maîtrise de Paris and is a distinguished choral composer. Previously a choral scholar at St John’s College, Cambridge, we are thrilled to welcome him back to Cambridge.

Bach’s ability to move between chorales and intricate textures and to interweave joy and sorrow, intellect and emotion, and personal reflection and passages drawn directly from scripture guide the audience through a meditation on the Christmas season. An incomparable piece from an incomparable master, the Christmas Oratorio is a musical celebration not to be missed.
