Choral Auditions: 2011/12
CUMS Chorus
Chorus auditions will be taking place between 12 and 2 pm on Monday 10th October, and between 11 am and 1 pm on Wednesday 12th October, in Keynes Hall, King's College.
Do get in touch to book an audition (chorus.registrar@gmail.com), or if you don't have time to book a session, please come along anyway and we'll fit you in.
In the audition, you will be required to:
- Sing some scales and/or arpeggios to demonstrate vocal range and quality.
- Sing a short melody and clap a short phrase: the melody and the phrase will be played twice on the piano first.
- Do some simple ear tests: e.g. picking out a note from a chord.
- Sing a short passage at sight: an opportunity for a 'second go' is offered, credit being given for the ability to correct at a subsequent reading.
Cambridge University Chamber Choir
Auditions for CUCC will take place on Saturday 1 October 2011 from 2- 4pm, Tuesday 4 October 2011 from 11am-1pm, and Sunday 9 October 2011 1pm-4pm, in the Bennett Room, Clare College Memorial Court.
Please register your interest with Nicholas Mogg, CUCC Administrator, on nim24@cam.ac.uk, as soon as possible, giving your availability for an audition within the times listed above.
Please prepare a short piece (no longer than four minutes). You may also be asked to sight-read in the audition, which will last for no more than 12 minutes. Please bring a pianist to accompany you in the audition. If you are unable to find a pianist, please let us know - it may be possible for one of the panel to accompany you (although there will not be an opportunity to rehearse in advance).
