CUMS Chorus: Join us!
Entry to the CUMS Chorus is by a short, straightforward audition. There will be an open rehearsal on the first rehearsal of term in order to give prospective members the chance to see what singing in CUMS Chorus is like. Do come along! Auditions can be arranged then or by visiting the CUMS stand at the Societies' Fair.
At your audition you will be asked to do the following:
- To sing a short prepared piece, with our without accompaniment (e.g. a verse from a song or hymn). Please bring a copy of the piece to the audition for the accompanist. This part of the audition is optional.
- To sing some scales and/or arpeggios to demonstrate vocal range and quality.
- To sing a short melody and clap a short phrase: the melody and the phrase will be played twice on the piano first.
- To do some simple ear tests: e.g. picking out a note from a chord.
- To sing a short passage at sight: an opportunity for a 'second go' is offered, credit being given for the ability to correct at a subsequent reading.
Open rehearsal - Thursday 8 October, 7.30pm-9.45pm, St Andrews Street Baptist Church.
